Long-form writers on X no longer have to sit in the web composer to publish an Article. According to X's API changelog, the company added new endpoints on October 3, 2026, for drafting and publishing Articles through the X API — a quiet change that opens the platform's richest writing format to outside tools, publishing platforms, and automation for the first time.

A scheduling tool that built its name on Twitter threads no longer publishes to X at all. Hypefury, launched in 2019 by co-founders Samy Dindane and Yannick Veys and described by the company as the first scheduler built for Twitter threads, now lists five supported platforms on its pricing page: Bluesky, Threads, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok. X is not among them.

Nitter Says It Has No Lawyer Left as Fight With X Drags On

A hand holds a smartphone showing the Twitter bird logo on a bright blue screen outdoors.

For years, people who wanted to read public posts on X without signing in had a quiet workaround. Nitter, an open-source project, fetched public posts and presented them in a clean, lightweight view, stripping out ads, tracking cookies and heavy scripts. Services such as XCancel were built on top of it, and many readers treated those pages as their front door to the platform.

X Removes More Than 13,000 Accounts in Pre-Midterm Influence Sweep

X has removed more than 13,000 accounts that it says were part of three suspected foreign influence operations aimed at political debate in the United States, announcing the sweep on Wednesday evening ahead of the midterm elections on November 3.

According to the platform, the networks used inauthentic accounts to post and amplify political content aimed at candidates and public figures across the political spectrum. X said it found the accounts through proactive sweeps and investigations under its rules against spam and coordinated inauthentic behaviour.

Trading From the Timeline: X Cashtags Now Link Straight to Brokerages

Cartoon illustration of people gathered around a large smartphone showing a rising chart and a coin, with speech bubbles and a small bird nearby.

For years, a dollar sign in front of a ticker symbol was simply a shortcut. Tap a Cashtag on X and a reader could follow the conversation around a stock, an exchange-traded fund or a cryptocurrency. A recent update turns that shortcut into a starting point for action, at least for users in the United States.

Cartoon illustration of baseball and football fans gathered around a large smartphone showing a live sports hub in a stadium.

Baseball fans on X are getting a dedicated home for the postseason. On October 7, at Advertising Week New York, X announced that its Gametime sports hub is expanding beyond football, with Major League Baseball as its second league partnership.

Gametime was first announced in August as an NFL-focused hub, bringing live scores, play-by-play updates and game feeds together in a single place instead of leaving fans to piece a game together from scattered posts. The MLB version, arriving this month, applies the same idea to the baseball postseason.

They are used for everything from breaking-news debriefs and sports watch-alongs to book clubs, town halls, and late-night comedy. If you have only ever listened, hosting one is easier than you think.

Cartoon illustration of people leaving a closed community hall and gathering around a large group chat bubble instead.

If you went looking for your X Communities this year and found them missing, you did not break anything. X shut the feature down, with the retirement completed on May 30, 2026. Communities — public, interest-based groups with their own feeds, admins, and moderators — are no longer part of the platform. Here is what happened, and what has taken their place.

Getting the Most from Lists on X: Build Your Own Focused Timelines

Cartoon illustration of a person sorting social media post cards into neat, colorful timeline columns with favorites pinned at the top.

If your main X timeline feels like drinking from a fire hose, Lists are the tap you control. A List is a custom timeline built from a group of accounts you choose. Open the List and you see recent posts from only those accounts, in one focused feed, with none of the algorithm's detours. For many longtime users, Lists are the feature that makes X feel manageable again.
